Muffin molds
Muffins (known in popular Spanish as magdalenas, panquecitos, panqueques, ponquecitos, ponqués, "cubiletes" or queques, all traditional muffins) are confectionery products made with sweet bread dough and other ingredients, especially sweets. Baked in muffin molds, they have a cylindrical base and a wider mushroom-shaped surface. The lower part is usually wrapped with special pastry paper or aluminium foil and although their size may vary their diameter is smaller than the palm of an adult hand.
The muffin is similar to the magdalena but it is a different food - less sweet and prepared differently using different ingredients and types of flavours. It is usually eaten for breakfast or as a snack.
