French Press
The French press, press pot, coffee press, French coffee press or French coffee maker is a simple device for making coffee or tea and usually produces stronger coffee than other kinds of coffee makers.
From the outside a French press looks a lot like a piston that slides up and down a cylindrical surface of glass or plastic. They usually have a handle so you can pour the coffee into a cup when you think it's ready. The piston has a kind of nylon, rubber or aluminium filter that will only let through water but not coffee grounds.
The way this kind of piston coffee maker or French press works is quite simple. You put hot water and a ground coffee blend in the bottom (10 grams of ground coffee for every 180 ml of water) and you let it sit for a few minutes. Ideally the water should reach 93º C, which is the perfect temperature for extracting coffee.
French press cofee has a sour flavour if the extraction was done below the temperature mentioned above, because the first substances to dissolve are the acids from the coffee grounds, and a bitter flavour if the temperature is too high. The brewing time should be 4 minutes, but depending on the coffee and personal preference it can range from around 5 to 10 minutes, the flavour of the coffee is more bitter the longer it sits because every minute the grounds dissolve more.
Currently, IBILI has one model of French press or press pot coffee maker. Press pot coffee makers are common in countries like France or Germany.
